Hi, I'm Megan Foster
Science Teacher & Fertility Awareness Writer
I'm a 29-year-old middle school science teacher living in Boston with my husband and our cat, Luna. I started tracking my ovulation in early 2024 when we decided to try for a baby. What I thought would be a simple "download an app and follow instructions" process turned into an 18-month deep dive into fertility awareness, basal body temperature, cervical mucus, and the frustrating gap between medical advice and real life.
This site exists because I couldn't find what I needed: honest, data-driven tools that don't require a subscription, don't collect my data, and don't pretend to know my body better than I do. Everything here runs in your browser. No accounts. No tracking. Just math and biology.
Background & Experience
- Education: B.S. in Biology, University of Massachusetts Amherst, Class of 2018
- Occupation: Middle school science teacher, Boston Public Schools (since 2018)
- Tracking Experience: 18 months of hands-on cycle tracking using BBT, cervical mucus, and OPKs
- Training: Completed a fertility awareness educator workshop through the Fertility Awareness Network (2024)
- Not a Medical Professional: I am not a doctor, nurse, or healthcare provider. All content is personal experience and research, not medical advice.
Why I Built This Site
After spending $340 on fertility tracking products in my first year — ovulation test strips, wearable devices, premium app subscriptions — I realized the free methods were actually more accurate. A $15 basal thermometer, a notebook, and consistent observation beat every algorithm I paid for.
I built these tools for myself first. Then I shared them with friends who were struggling with the same questions. Now they're here for anyone who needs them.
How I Write
I write like I talk. I include specific numbers because I trust data over generalizations. I mention my husband, my students, and my cat because this is real life, not a textbook. I get frustrated when apps are wrong, excited when patterns emerge, and honest when I don't know something.
If you want polished medical content written by a healthcare professional, this isn't that. If you want the experience of someone who has actually stared at a BBT chart at 6 AM for 18 months, you're in the right place.
Outside of Tracking
When I'm not teaching or obsessing over my cycle data, I run (slowly), bake banana bread that my husband claims is "fine," and spend way too much time on TikTok watching science explainers. I live in a small apartment in Somerville with insufficient closet space and a cat who thinks 4 AM is an appropriate time for breakfast.
